Palazzo Roma

Ostuni, 2021

The former Roma cinema-theatre in Ostuni has been restored to the ‘White City’ thanks to the foresight of the Italian-Swiss banker Renè De Picciotto. The theatre, designed by architect Lucia Bianco and engineer Luciano Ostuni, features a multifunctional performance space, a gallery and a large internal courtyard reconstructed in the typical style of southern open courtyards. It features extensive green spaces, ancient stone flooring and cladding in local stone, in keeping with the region’s most authentic tradition. Also typically ‘local’ is the installation of a large rose window in traditional light installation and a distinctive artistic illuminated sign.
