Our History
The Mariano family’s history in the world of luminaria art began in 1898, when Salvatore Mariano worked as a “paratore”: a craftsman who created and restored decorative festive lights for village festivals. His passion was passed down to his son Eliseo Mariano, who in 1946 founded F.lli Mariano, dedicating himself to the creation of artistic illuminations for celebrations.
Under Eliseo's leadership (and later known as Ditta Comm. Eliseo Mariano after 1973), the company set up majestic electric light displays throughout the province, particularly in their hometown of Scorrano, which became famous for its annual festival of light installations.
By 1986, Eliseo's son, Lucio Mariano, had pushed the craft into the modern era, introducing cutting-edge concepts for the time, such as music-synchronized shows, pyro-musical displays, and early computer-controlled interactive lighting programs. Lucio's embrace of new technologies, including LED and RGB lights, expanded the family's reputation dramatically, both in Italy and internationally, positioning the company as a leader in the sector and facilitating the development of important partnerships and collaborations with well-known luxury brands.
In 2023, architect Giulio Mariano founded Studio Light Mariano, bringing light installations into contemporary art and interior design through innovative materials and cutting-edge projects.
