I CONTAIN MULTITUDES Reflection 2026

St. Moritz, Italian artist Marinella Senatore presents I CONTAIN MULTITUDES, a project consisting of site-specific light installations created in the center of St. Moritz, Switzerland.

For the monumental installation located in Plazza da Scoula (Schulhausplatz), Studio Light Mariano oversaw the engineering, production, and construction of the light structure, translating Marinella Senatore's artistic project into a complex light architecture for the public space.

The work is composed of 15 modules arranged to form a large polygonal structure 10 meters in diameter, with a vertical extension reaching 6 meters in height. The self-supporting steel structure was designed without tie rods, maintaining visual continuity and legibility of the installation from every point in the square.

One of the main challenges faced by Studio Light Mariano was the significant difference in level of Schulhausplatz. The structural design required a precise study of the different elevations of the terrain and the development of a system capable of compensating for them, allowing the entire installation to remain level. During assembly in St. Moritz, each module was individually adjusted to ensure the structure's correct alignment.

The lighting project integrates light bulbs, LED strips, and neon flex, using different shades of white to create geometries, depth, and perceptual variations. Illuminated writing, a recurring element in Marinella Senatore's artistic research, traverses the architecture and connects words, light, the public, and urban space.

For the three-dimensional star-shaped elements located at the top of the work, Studio Light Mariano integrated 3D-printed components, combining them with the metal structure and lighting systems.

The illuminated backrest in Plazza da Scoula is part of I CONTAIN MULTITUDES, a project developed by Marinella Senatore for REFLECTION St. Moritz 2026 through a participatory process involving the local community. The phrases included in the installations were created during workshops conducted with the residents of St. Moritz.

The project combines public art, contemporary illuminations, light installations, structural engineering, artisanal production, LED technology, and 3D printing. Through the production and technical implementation of Studio Light Mariano, Marinella Senatore's artistic project takes the form of a monumental, site-specific light installation in the heart of St. Moritz.
