Forum Paracelsus Spiral light sculpture

As part of REFLECTION 2026, a public art program promoted by the Kulturstiftung St. Moritz, Italian artist Marinella Senatore presents two site-specific light installations in St. Moritz, Switzerland, grouped under the title I CONTAIN MULTITUDES.

For the work installed inside the Paracelsus Forum in St. Moritz, Studio Light Mariano oversaw the engineering, production, and construction of the light sculpture, translating Marinella Senatore's artistic project into a complex, vertical, three-dimensional installation.

The sculpture emerges from a wooden base with engravings and painted details, from which a steel spiral structure unfurls. Ninety illuminated acrylic candles are distributed along its length, characterized by a color gradient from red to yellow to natural white. Over 150 meters of LED strips create a continuous luminous progression along the entire length of the spiral.

Decorative black aluminum leaves are interwoven with the structure, introducing contrast, depth, and rhythm to the composition. At the top, a large, luminous sun forms the focal point of the work and completes the sculpture's ascending movement.

The design required particular attention to the integration of structure, lighting, and electrical systems. Studio Light Mariano developed the construction details and power systems so that the technical component was integrated into the sculpture and removed from visual perception as much as possible, leaving the design, materials, and light to take center stage.

Steel, wood, acrylic, and aluminum are combined through craftsmanship, structural design, and LED technology, giving shape to a light sculpture custom-made for the Paracelsus Forum and for Marinella Senatore's artistic project.

The work is part of I CONTAIN MULTITUDES, a project developed by Marinella Senatore for REFLECTION St. Moritz 2026, along with the monumental light installation at Plazza da Scoula (Schulhausplatz). The two works were conceived as site-specific installations, connecting with the community and the spaces of St. Moritz.
