Arte Peccioli

Marinella Senatore
Toscana, 2024

In 2024, for the MACCA – Open-Air Museum of Contemporary Art in Peccioli, Tuscany, Marinella Senatore created We Rise by Lifting Others, a project developed in collaboration with Studio Light Mariano and conceived as a permanent, site-specific public light installation.

The work was custom-designed to directly engage with the existing architecture, extending along the building's façade and roof. Studio Light Mariano oversaw the design and construction of the structure, constructed entirely of aluminum, adapting its geometry, proportions, and support systems to the specific characteristics of the space.

The project marks a significant step in Marinella Senatore's research, transforming the language of her light installations into a truly practicable, public, and permanent piece of architecture. The three-dimensional composition is designed to encourage participation and create a continuous relationship between contemporary art, urban space, architecture, and landscape.

We Rise by Lifting Others thus becomes an integral part of the Peccioli context, transcending the decorative function of light to take on the role of a public art work and permanent architectural installation, designed specifically for the place and the community that passes through it.
