Napoli Contemporanea

In the Chiaia district of Naples, Studio Light Mariano has created two monumental light installations designed by artist Marinella Senatore, conceived to interact with the architecture and public space.

The project comprises a 6-meter-high vertical structure featuring a large sun traversed by different light rays, and a 14-meter-long and 7-meter-high luminous backrest. Both works were developed as self-supporting structures and designed to remain installed outdoors for four consecutive months.

The compositions integrate geometric shapes in opaline acrylic, designed to diffuse and modulate light differently during the day and at night. Transparencies, surfaces, and light sources thus generate perceptual variations that change with environmental conditions and the vantage point.

The project brings together contemporary art, light design, structural planning, and urban space, transforming the language of illuminations into a site-specific installation conceived for the context of Naples and for prolonged public use.
