Marinella Senatore
Palazzo Nardini, Roma, 2026

At Palazzo Nardini in Rome, Studio Light Mariano realised for Lemon Green a luminous rosette designed by Marinella Senatore, measuring 2.2 × 1.2 metres. The project reinterprets the geometry of traditional Italian luminarie through contemporary materials, craftsmanship and lighting technologies, transforming the artistic concept into a distinctive light art installation.

The contemporary language of neon flex enters into dialogue and contrast with the glass neon of the sign, a historic technology of illuminated communication. The combination of the two technologies creates a balance between tradition and innovation, connecting the decorative heritage of Italian luminarie with a contemporary exploration of light.

The composition develops radially through a sequence of geometric elements and luminous rays created with neon flex. Different shades and colour temperatures generate progressive gradients that define the pattern of the rosette, enhance its depth and create a luminous rhythm converging towards the centre of the artwork.

A luminous sign made of glass and neon is superimposed onto the structure. Its red line crosses the regular geometry of the rosette, introducing a freer and more expressive graphic element. The contrast between the precision of the radial structure and the spontaneous character of the lettering strengthens the visual identity of the installation, transforming the word into an integral part of the luminous composition.

The integration of aluminium, neon flex, glass and neon gives shape to a contemporary light art work in which light, geometry and words coexist within a unified visual language. The project translates Marinella Senatore’s artistic concept into a permanent light installation that reinterprets the decorative tradition of Italian luminarie while engaging in dialogue with the historic architecture of Palazzo Nardini in Rome.

From the design and realisation of the structure to the integration of the lighting systems and the handcrafted production of the individual elements, the project reflects Studio Light Mariano’s ability to transform artistic concepts into bespoke luminous installations, combining craftsmanship, different materials and contemporary technologies. A synthesis of light art, design, technological innovation and the tradition of Italian luminarie, conceived for an architectural setting of significant historical value.
